On behalf of the Washington Times
Foundation, sponsor of the Parent’s Day Council, we extend a heartfelt
welcome to all our guests for our sixth annual Congressional Parent’s
Day Reception honoring the National Parents of the Year and other
outstanding parents from our community. Your commitment to strengthen
America’s families and uplift exemplary parents, demonstrated by your
participation in this event, is greatly appreciated.
The Parents’ Day Council, a project of
the Washington Times Foundation, is a nonpartisan, multi-racial and
interfaith coalition of religious, civic, and business leaders and
elected officials who believe that America’s moral and spiritual health
can be restored through a value-based revival that emphasizes and
celebrates the God-centered family idea.
The revival has already begun, and we
are proud to join together to honor outstanding parents who, through
their example of unconditional love, commitment, and service – not only
to their own children but also to the children of their communities, the
nation and the world – inspire new hope and vision for the
future.
The Washington Times Foundation,
established in 1984 by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, is a not-for profit
organization devoted to encouraging the highest ideals in cultural
values and public-mindedness.
The Foundation has developed
programs, especially in the arena of education and the media, to promote
the values of family, freedom, and faith - values that have become
confused and weakened. Forums, conferences, and projects, such as the
Parents' Day Council and the American Leadership Conference, are
regularly sponsored to enrich the cultural, moral and religious life of
our nation.
To achieve its mission, the
Foundation sponsors programs in support of four major goals: world
peace; religious and racial harmony; restoration of the traditional
two-parent family; and community building.
Thank you for coming (to this
Congressional reception) and may God richly bless you and your
family!
Sincerely,
Douglas D.M. Joo
