Parent of the Year 2004 - Debra Jean Hutchings Forrest

Debra Jean Hutchings Forrest, of Mesa, Arizona, was, with her husband, William Von Forrest, an exemplary parent to their seven children. Since his death four years ago in a tragic car accident, she has gone far beyond even that high standard in her love and sacrifice for her children and her devotion to her community, her children’s schools, her church and even to the international level. The fruits of her love, and the enduring love of her and her husband, are seen most clearly in the accomplishments and public-mindedness of all seven of their children. All 7 children are in the top 10% of their class; 3 sons have already achieved Eagle Scout status. More importantly, this family reaches out to the disadvantaged, traveling to Mexico and Central America to aid poverty-stricken families there.
